The Royal living room is a classic scheme in solid wood and handmade steel that made room for a red sofa, and this page explains how it worked. The photographs below show its three-seater sofas, cabinet, coffee table and chessboard. Current Francesco Pasi pieces show how to plan the same formal room.
Can a red sofa work in a formal room?
Yes, if everything around it stays in wood and metal. Royal did this by setting a red sofa among solid wood pieces and steel worked by hand by artisans. Keep the red to one piece and repeat it, at most, in cushions. Put the gilding on the furniture rather than on the walls, so the colour has nothing to compete with.
Which carved sofa takes a strong colour?
A sofa with a dark, carved frame gives a strong cover a firm border. The Gran Guardia Sofa with 6 Cushions by Francesco Pasi has carvings made entirely by hand by master craftsmen, in finishes such as Luxury Retro Cherry or Luxury Coffee. Red against a deep cherry frame reads richer than red against white. Compare it with other italian sofa frames.
What storage completes a Royal-style room?
A gloss display cabinet and a full wall unit complete it. The Opera Display Cabinet 3025 by Francesco Pasi comes in 100 Gloss Ebony, Ivory, Taupe or White, with gold leaf or silver leaf. On the facing wall, the New Deco Wall Composition 5 by Francesco Pasi uses solid cherry uprights of 60 mm and a back in Tanganyika walnut plywood. More options sit within our italian living room furniture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Opera Display Cabinet 3025 have carving?
Yes. Its uprights are solid wood, 80 mm, with carving finished by hand.
What is the New Deco Wall Composition 5 made of?
Cherry blockboard, 25 mm, in seven layers for the sides, bottom and frame, with solid cherry doors and drawers of 34 mm.
Which finishes suit a red sofa?
Dark wood tones hold red well. On the Gran Guardia sofa, Luxury Retro Cherry, Luxury Coffee and Luxury Retro Walnut are the deeper options.
